If a problem hasn’t been solved, then solve it. There’s always brute force way, right? Just make sure we’re going to the right path, no matter how long it takes.

Problems make us strong. Problems make us see the true qualities of the people involved. And when the problem is solved, the bond between us and them are stronger… most of the time.

There are several targets I wish to accomplish this holiday. They are:

• Internship. Tasting the life of office worker, focusing on coding and working in day, betraying moods. Wow. That is a total challenge for a night-worker like me. I really hope I can gain a lot of experience and knowledge from this

• Learning language. Whether it is conversational English or new one, it’s a must do!

• Memorizing at least one surrah

• Cooking!

So, what are your agenda this holiday?

I saw the father gave his children some biscuits, which, I think… is very wrong. It is okay to eat in a bus or train, but in a busway? The children even had the biscuits splattered in his hands.

I wonder if people know about the rule that prohibit everyone to eat inside a busway or transjakarta. For your info, there is a sticker posted on the busway window that prohibit people to smoke, eat, and drink. However, sometimes I found people do not obey these rules.

I have my own thoughts on that father and his children. I don’t know whether the father knows about the rule or not. I hope not, because he does, it is such a shame.

In many ways, that behavior was a bad example for his children. If his children was able to read, they will know that their father disobey the rule. The best case if the children are curious, perhaps they will ask the father why he did that. But I think, in most cases, children don’t do that. Thus, the children get a bad example from their parents, and might be a motivation to disobey another rule.

Even if his children haven’t been able to read, they will be able to read someday. If they still remember that case… Who knows what will happen?

Sadly, another similar case about obeying the rule also occured quite often. It is our job then, to set a good example, even in small things, to younger people.

So now I’m in my sixth semester, which probably the most un-busiest and different semester I had. 18 academic credits! Perfect for my non-academic plans.

Err, what the heck that I do with 18 credits? One of the reason is because of the killing 6 credits course, a course where the students are grouped and assigned to develop any mobile or desktop apps. Cool, but killing. My team finally agreed to develop an Android apps. Therefore, I’m gonna swim Android library this semester.

After 2 years spending my time in the faculty’s student executive organization, now I’m trying my best in the legislative one. So far, the legislative organization has always been infamous. It is a challenge to make it work as people expect. This year, we changed our strategy in recruiting in order to gain more people. As Yahya mentioned in his blog post, we succeed. This year’s DPM consists of more than 30 members!

But there’s one thing that I’d like to emphasis more. Last year my friends and I made a business plan and propose it to the Dikti. Alhamdulillah, they gave us plenty of money to start it. Start a business? Whew, it’s very challenging. It is difficult, need a lot of focus and trial and so forth… However, I do put a lot of hope and positive mind in it. It will be very delightful to see this business really works. Of course I am scared and worried that this won’t work. Pray and keep fighting is the best recipe

As the seniors once said:
- first year is a trial of organizations you interested on
- second year is settling on one and busy of non-academic matters, e.g. committees
- if the 1st and 2nd year is a trial and a look of experiences in organization, when you join one in 3rd year is serving to a chosen organization. Because most people use their 3rd year to focus on the topics they really interested on
- 4th year? Of course to focus on bachelor thesis. Except for some extraordinary people

I think these new routes are great, because it reaaaally eases people from West Jakarta to go to Depok or Bogor. How? Well, you can either take the busway from Grogol or whatever, and then stop at Cikoko Stasiun Cawang and take the train to Depok or Bogor there. Or you can stop at Pancoran Tugu and wait for the bus to Depok from there (instead of waiting in S Parman Street). Yay! I also amazed with the arrival rate of the busway, in 30 minutes, more than 6 busways pass. Great job, Pemda Jakarta!

However, these new routes isn’t a good news for private vehicle drivers/owners and buses drivers. They bring traffic jam, worst than ever!
It hits the streets the route passes: S. Parman, Gatot Subroto, MT Haryono, etc. Thus, why not taking the busway, people? The fare is not so expensive, so far it’s safe (although be sure to be cautious), you don’t need to be afraid of 3-in-1 rule, and so forth. Moreover, it will also reduce air pollution and Jakarta’s traffic jam!

So, hey, all motorcycle riders, all private cars users, let’s invade the busway!

January. My 2010 begins with my decision to wear jilbab. Alhamdulillah, my resolution since like junior-high is finally achieved. That was on January 4th. In the next week, something that is quite the opposite happens: I’m in a relationship. Err, whatever. Let’s pray for the best of this relationship. Next, around the end of January, Kirana (again) sent me a text message, stating that the proposal my team and I propose to PKM is accepted and will be funded. Yeaaay! The project is kind of my dream, solving my problem every time I travel in Jakarta alone: a simple journey planner.

February. The fourth semester began, and so those most of campus activities, such as BEM and FUKI. As one of the BEM’s daily management, we interviewed many people and did a lot of meetings to plot the best to be the soldiers of BEM. My group’s PKM-T project also started this February. We made a lot of meetings with Mr Ruli, algorithming, calculating, and so forth. Not to forget, one of Fasilkom’s biggest event is going to be held in May: Computer Festival 2010! #compfest2010

March. There is nothing very significant I remember on March… I guess all I remember was Compfest’s activity getting hectic by days. People were started to asked for letters unexpectedly. Hufft. If I’m not mistaken, the very first version of path-finding algorithm for Sitrum (my group’s PKM project) is done by Ade and I

April. Compfest is getting so near! More meetings scheduled, our sponsors were few those days. Ah, and the best thing from April is the Tidung Getaway! We had this crazy idea of getting away from campus’ hectic life. The unfortunate? We did it when there was supposed to be a deadline of Computer Network assignment on 10 April. My friends were spending a night in my parents’ house and we depart very early to Tidung Island from Muara Angke. 4 boys, 3 girls. After that trip, a couple arise (y)

May. #compfest2010! There’s nothing more I can say, as I’m really proud of all the committee’s hard work, that our dream to make a one-stop event, the biggest event of Fasilkom UI was reached! Alhamdulillah. 8-9 May 2010, in SMESCO Gatot Subroto. There was also Monev of PKM, which stands for Monitor dan Evaluasi. In Monev, we must present what we have done so far in our project, how promising are they, how’s the evaluation, blah blah. Because in Monev, they will select the finalist to go to Pimnas 2010! I still remember how kak Jay’s wonderful presentation that day. His presentation captured everyone’s attention. Really inspiring.

June. Alhamdulillah, our PKM team got selected as finalist in Pimnas 2010 in Bali! Yeaaay! Another finalist from Fasilkom is Baticube. I really proud of this: two teams from Fasilkom was selected! There were a lot of preparation done by UI officials to prepare our presentation. We got many debriefings how to presentate well. In June also, my uncle was married, my aunt and cousin from overseas was coming to Jakarta. A lot of family meetings

July. Er, I’ll continue this later. My eyes are 5 watt now and I’m yawning a lot.

This holiday, some friends and I participated in a web design competition, so we worked on it quite hard. A thing that kind of bizarre here is that the server provided by the committee of the competition was hacked, so a lot of the teams’ websites were mysteriously lost a few components of the website or even the whole website. It might be the committee’s trick, though, but this problem was resolved when they decided to let us use our own hosting. Unfortunately, my friends and I didn’t pass to the final stage. But that’s okay

Another thing I did this holiday is taking a driving course, and… Getting a driving license! Finally. My parents were serious about this driving thing, which forced me to take 10 hours of driving course -_-. I think that was too much, for I had some experiences on driving a car previously and the driving instructor keeps on following the same routes day by day. But my driving skill is, indeed, need a lot of refinement. The good thing to own a driving license is they allow me to drive now, even when we visited a lot of relatives. Another progress!

The new semester finally comes. It was hard to finally took off all the fun (emphasis on Baking Life, The Sims 3, and Plants Vs Zombies :p) behind. What is even harder to leave are family meetings, the warmth in it, and the chance to know more about the cousins. Ugh, I wish I could go home every weekend and have a chill conversation with each one of them =(. That was too much to wish for, I think, but after all, it’s good to be back to campus!

This fifth term is immensely different from the last one. For instance, the minimized role in campus’ committees and organization gives me the chance to finally take more credits ever in my whole university life: 21 credits. Err, okay, most of the people won’t think this credits are excessive, but for me, it is. There are a lot of reasons behind this, of course, but it won’t be shared here. Just for thought, University of Indonesia only has 4 effective month of lecture in a semester. This is a veeeery short term, not to add that there were Ied Fitr holiday this term. Taking 21 credits is rather risky.

Fifth term means I can choose which lecture I want to study, according to the field of computer science I want to learn more. There are still compulsory courses I have to take. Some of them are dull nor very difficult, which make them not so fascinating. The chosen courses are day saver, they act as a coffee to face boring courses. Whatever happens this term, face it, don’t leave it!

Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend – or a meaningful day.
