Stay Healthy!

Truth be told, I finally reach my last semester in college. Yay! (or should I say Aww?)
It started a bit weird, because I was badly ill, having a dengue fever for weeks. I even lose my hospitalized-ginity, and hit the hospital twice. A bad experience indeed. Not to mention there were many opportunities come when I lied weakly on hospital bed. Ahh, what a life.

Nevertheless, I should be thankful that I was sick at this time, like, at my final semester, in which I don’t have many obligations. Lucky enough, I didn’t miss much in the Deutschkurs I’m taking this semester (yeah, I’m a Computer Science student taking Germany Language Study).

Apart from the illness part, I somewhat enjoy being hospitalized. It’s interesting! You know, being injected with infusion needle, having your blood taken every morning, having people taking care of you, and nobody would blame you if you sleep too much :P . I even really enjoy the “nasi tim ayam” menu, it was amazingly delicious!

Moreover, I really glad people were visiting me at the hospital. Thank you very much, guys :)

Getting back to hospital business, I also realized that there are sooo many diseases one can suffer, especially for the seniors. Let me take a list: diabetes, hypertension, stroke, cardiac disease, many-kind-of-cancers, osteoporosis, etc. Not to mention that several diseases lead to other diseases as well. What a friendly reminder. I realized I haven’t exercised regularly for years, perhaps not getting enough vegetables & water each day, and not getting enough sleep. Trust me, if you were me, waiting in the hall full of ill and pale people, you would become as paranoid as I do.

Another important thing: insurance. Good hospital (and good room) is not cheap, and the rule is, the better the hospital & room, the better the service you get. Obviously, the more expensive. There are also routine therapy or medication, which also costs quite a lot. That’s why health insurance is very important! Or if not a health insurance, at least get a savings for unexpected events. Can you imagine the trouble of being ill?

Since I’m getting healthier now, I try to manage my body. Eat as much vegetable as possible (it’s pretty much impossible eating more vegetable than red meat), drink plenty of water each day (2 liters = 10 glasses, which is quite a lot),  sleep at least 5 hours / day, swimming at least once a week, and use mask on the street. It may sounds paranoid, but I’m just saving my future & my descendants-to-be :)

Family Photo Hunting!

Last week, I went to a photo hunting, on my own. I usually do this kind of photo hunting with Aqid, but back then he was busy doing something. My objective was to take several pictures to be submitted to Grafkom, a photography competition for Fasilkom UI’s students. The theme of the competition was “The New Beginning”, so after a long and winding brainstorming, I figured I would take pictures of students in front of the sunrise, or students entering their schools, pretty much anything around that idea. I thought that students are the future of Indonesia, so everything related to them would be beginning-ful.

My forever-alone photo hunting was done in front of an elementary school, only 5 minutes from my dormitory. I went there around 12 o’clock in the noon. It was both good and bad options. Bad, because by that time, the sun was above us, so that the lighting would be too bright. Good news is, that is when morning-class students finished, and noon-class students arrive.

What I want to talk about here is the atmosphere I got when I arrived. There were moms -most of them young moms- chattering and probably doing gossips, sitting in a bus shelter in front of the school. They were moms who picked their child up from the morning class. There were also the students, eating rujak and snacks full of MSG, buying toys, waiting for anyone who will pick them up, or just playing around with the other children. What a nostalgia! :’)

The Waiting Girl

Apart from the morning class students, there were also people take the children to go to school. They could be parents or drivers or babysitters, I cannot decide which. The child then would say goodbye to the parent by kissing his/her hands. But isn’t that sweet, parents take their child to school, children say goodbye politely? Everything seems so sweet because they’re still elementary students, in stage of life that supposed to be filled with mostly family and sometimes school friends.

In my stage of life now, family probably get the smallest quality time, especially for my friends who leave their hometown. I really, really consider myself lucky because my parents’ house are only 2 hours away from my dormitory. Therefore, I can get in touch with them easily, enjoy many quality time with them, and be there whenever they need me. One word: alhamdulillah!

Anyhow.. I am curious about what would happen after graduation. The distance might be farther, but I do hope it has nothing to do with my quality time with them. After all, they’ve raised us, haven’t they?

Problems?

Problems are made to be solved. Even NP Problems have practical solutions.

If a problem hasn’t been solved, then solve it. There’s always brute force way, right? Just make sure we’re going to the right path, no matter how long it takes.

Problems make us strong. Problems make us see the true qualities of the people involved. And when the problem is solved, the bond between us and them are stronger… most of the time.

Relationship

Sometimes, we fight, we defend, we sacrifice, we do everything to love and be loved. We can be so blinded by one particular person that we almost forget it’s not us who has control. How can we be so sure that the one we fight for, is really the one for us? We fight to defend, to get a new relationship, yet it may lead to another heart break. Have we asked Him to tell us who is best for us?

We can fight til we shed all drops of tears, we can pray, but only He knows the best.

Yeah It’s Holy-day!

Holiday is holiday, no matter what agenda you have in it. Even if it means routines. At least I get more time than I have in school days.

There are several targets I wish to accomplish this holiday. They are:

  • Internship. Tasting the life of office worker, focusing on coding and working in day, betraying moods. Wow. That is a total challenge for a night-worker like me. I really hope I can gain a lot of experience and knowledge from this :D

  • Learning language. Whether it is conversational English or new one, it’s a must do!

  • Memorizing at least one surrah

  • Cooking!

So, what are your agenda this holiday?

Behave!

I was in a transjakarta from Pluit to Slipi last week. I saw a family there. It was a young family, with children on elementary school age.

I saw the father gave his children some biscuits, which, I think… is very wrong. It is okay to eat in a bus or train, but in a busway? The children even had the biscuits splattered in his hands.

I wonder if people know about the rule that prohibit everyone to eat inside a busway or transjakarta. For your info, there is a sticker posted on the busway window that prohibit people to smoke, eat, and drink. However, sometimes I found people do not obey these rules.

I have my own thoughts on that father and his children. I don’t know whether the father knows about the rule or not. I hope not, because he does, it is such a shame.

In many ways, that behavior was a bad example for his children. If his children was able to read, they will know that their father disobey the rule. The best case if the children are curious, perhaps they will ask the father why he did that. But I think, in most cases, children don’t do that. Thus, the children get a bad example from their parents, and might be a motivation to disobey another rule.

Even if his children haven’t been able to read, they will be able to read someday. If they still remember that case… Who knows what will happen?

Sadly, another similar case about obeying the rule also occured quite often. It is our job then, to set a good example, even in small things, to younger people.

Welcoming (me) back

Whew,it’s been a while since I logged in to this WP acc. Thank you to my senior Mishbah for the reminder.

So now I’m in my sixth semester, which probably the most un-busiest and different semester I had. 18 academic credits! Perfect for my non-academic plans.

Err, what the heck that I do with 18 credits? One of the reason is because of the killing 6 credits course, a course where the students are grouped and assigned to develop any mobile or desktop apps. Cool, but killing. My team finally agreed to develop an Android apps. Therefore, I’m gonna swim Android library this semester.

After 2 years spending my time in the faculty’s student executive organization, now I’m trying my best in the legislative one. So far, More

The Newly Transjakarta Corridor 9 and 10

Say hello to the freshly opened Transjakarta / Busway Corridor 9 and 10! Let’s give it up to DKI Jakarta’s government who finally open it after a long wait (since the lane is available) for more than a year. Congratulation!

The government finally opened it! Before I share my post, let me introduce you to the routes:

My 2010 – 1

As Kirana says there, to not make the same mistake, one must remember and learn from the past. So here’s my 2010…

January. My 2010 begins with my decision to wear jilbab. Alhamdulillah, my resolution since like junior-high is finally achieved. That was on January 4th. In the next week, something that is quite the opposite happens: I’m in a relationship. Err, whatever. Let’s pray for the best of this relationship. Next, around the end of January, Kirana (again) sent me a text message, stating that the proposal my team and I propose to PKM is accepted and will be funded. Yeaaay! The project is kind of my dream, solving my problem every time I travel in Jakarta alone: a simple journey planner.

February. The fourth semester began, and so those most of campus activities, such as BEM and FUKI. As one of the BEM’s daily management, we interviewed many people and did a lot of meetings to plot the best to be the soldiers of BEM. My group’s PKM-T project also started this February. We made a lot of meetings with Mr Ruli, algorithming, calculating, and so forth. Not to forget, one of Fasilkom’s biggest event is going to be held in May: Computer Festival 2010! #compfest2010 More

Day 1 – Holiday 2011

So here I am in …. Very similar with Indonesia, especially the buildings and the people. Some are better, like the train (yet it also costs more) but some are the same. Hmm, they also have kaki-lima markets everywhere, and night market (pasar malam :p)
We went to the Computer City first, almost as same as Mangga Dua, with lots of computer stuffs. Then we took the BTS train and eat in a mall. The first mall was a “universal” mall, very crowded and not so beautiful. The second mall is more beautiful yet more empty. Anyway, we already bought some woman things there, please note that this is the first day. Haha.
